About Me
(All of the beautiful landscape pictures featured on my website come courtesy of
Oahu, HI.)
_My
name is Kerri Belen and I am a third grade teacher at Potterville
Elementary in Potterville, MI. Please feel free to visit my classroom website. In July 2011 I married my husband Andy
and became Mrs. Belen, so many students still know me as Ms. Turner. I
am an active member in the Potterville PTA and on the district
Technology Committee. This is my fifth year teaching in Potterville. I
am a graduate of
Michigan State University and in May 2012 I also got my masters degree
from MSU
as well. You will learn quickly that I am a HUGE MSU fan :-) Go

As for my family...I am one of 3 children, (the middle child and only girl) and my parents still live in Lake Orion, where I grew up. In case you are not familiar with the area, it is about 10 minutes north of the Palace of Auburn Hills (where the Pistons play basketball).
I enjoy reading, listening to music and watching movies in my spare time. I love everything to do with science. I am a big nature and animal lover and have been known to collect critters from time to time.

_I have dogs named Sparty
and Izzo (go State!), as well as classroom pets, Mellow (guinea pig), and fish.
My Philosophy
_I believe that all
students have the ability to learn, no matter what obstacles may face
them. Every child is a unique person with different talents and
struggles. They need to know that it is a blessing rather than a
hindrance that they are not all the same. I also believe that students
will rise to the challenge if they know what you expect and that you
believe in them. I try to encourage independent thinking as well as
responsibility for personal actions and materials in my class.
